The Role

The platform unifies multiple payment providers through intelligent transaction routing, where uptime, idempotency, and sub-second execution are non-negotiable. You’ll own core backend services—from payment adapters to high-volume event processing—in an environment where handling real money means zero tolerance for failure modes or subtle edge cases.

About the Product

The product is a live B2B payments platform that eliminates multi-vendor complexity for merchants by providing a unified integration layer, dynamic transaction routing, and high-availability processing. Operating as a critical financial gateway, the system abstracts provider-specific logic to ensure dependable uptime, complete operational safety, and high-volume transaction flow for active commercial clients.

Technology Stack: The backend is built with Node.js and TypeScript, using asynchronous patterns and event-driven architecture to coordinate payment sessions and webhooks. PostgreSQL serves as the primary relational datastore for handling complex transactions and schema indexing, with CI/CD and Docker driving containerized deployments on cloud infrastructure (AWS). System state and runtime health are actively monitored through integrated observability tools for real-time production debugging.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own the core payment services layer, building resilient session pipelines, intelligent routing engines, and third-party provider adapters
  • Architect clean, maintainable abstraction patterns for payment integrations to ensure consistent error handling and reliable failover behaviors
  • Design robust PostgreSQL schemas and transaction strategies that guarantee idempotency and absolute correctness when handling live monetary flows
  • Drive microservice architecture discussions, defining service boundaries and asynchronous communication patterns across distributed components
  • Eliminate production failure modes by establishing unit, integration, and E2E testing strategies that prevent regressions prior to release
  • Trace and resolve complex distributed system edge cases directly through logs and observability tooling, taking full accountability for incident root causes

What We Expect

Must-have

  • Proven track record of shipping and maintaining high-volume, production-grade distributed backend systems
  • Deep, expert-level proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, including event-driven patterns, async workflows, and performance optimization
  • Production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and transactional integrity
  • Hands-on experience designing microservices, API contracts, and async communication boundaries
  • Working mastery of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and active production debugging using observability tools
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills within a distributed, async-first team environment

Nice-to-have

  • Hands-on cloud expertise with AWS services
  • Direct domain exposure to fintech, payment gateways, or merchant processing systems

Why This Role Is Worth Your Time

  • Direct ownership of high-stakes infrastructure: You’re writing the core engine that moves live money, where code correctness immediately dictates system reliability
  • Pure engineering craft: The team prioritizes clean abstractions, rigorous test coverage, and long-term architectural health over quick-and-dirty hacks
  • High-trust, low-bureaucracy culture: Fully distributed async setup with zero micromanagement—you’re given the autonomy to diagnose issues, propose design changes, and ship directly to production
