The Role
The platform processes massive streams of live sports data and video signals in real time—and the backend services driving this pipeline are yours to own. The challenge isn’t just writing code; it’s architecting for extreme scale and sub-second reliability where every millisecond counts toward a broadcast deadline. You will own features from initial architectural design through to production monitoring, ensuring the system remains resilient under the pressure of global live events.
About the Product
This AI-powered B2B SaaS ecosystem automates the real-time generation and distribution of sports highlights for broadcasters and media rights owners. The product solves the high-stakes industry challenge of turning live signals into shareable content within seconds. It operates as a high-scale ingestion and processing engine that maintains perfect uptime while synchronising complex metadata with live video streams.
Technology Stack:The backend ecosystem is built on modern typed languages, leveraging either C# or Java within a distributed microservices architecture. High-scale data persistence and streaming are handled via SQL databases (Azure SQL) and messaging layers like Kafka or AzureService Bus. Everything runs in cloud-based, containerised environments with fully automated CI/CD workflows, prioritizing deep observability and system resilience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own backend services end to end, driving features from initial architectural design through to production monitoring
- Architect high-scale ingestion and processing pipelines capable of synchronizing complex metadata with live video streams
- Convert legacy bottlenecks into resilient, sub-second distributed microservices that maintain perfect uptime during live global events
- Establish debugging, testing, and observability guardrails to ensure system reliability under extreme broadcast loads
- Define technical trade-offs and clear architecture patterns to support the long-term evolution of the backend ecosystem
What We Expect
Must-have
- 4+ years of professional backend development experience with a strong foundation in modern typed languages (C# or Java)
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and clean architecture patterns (SOLID, DRY)
- Hands-on experience with messaging or pub-sub systems (Kafka or Azure Service Bus)
- Experience building cloud-based systems and working with SQL databases
- Proficiency with CI/CD workflows and containerised environments
- Bachelor of Computer Science or an equivalent degree
- Fluent English (written and spoken) for daily collaboration within a distributed team
Nice to have
- Production experience specifically within the Azure cloud ecosystem (Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus)
Why This Role Is Worth Your Time
- You will own critical infrastructure that directly impacts live global broadcasts, where the results of your optimization efforts are visible in milliseconds
- The technical challenge is genuinely non-trivial: solving complex real-time synchronization issues between high-scale metadata and live video feeds
- You’ll operate within a mature engineering culture that values true feature ownership, architectural freedom, and clean code over simple task-checkboxing
