We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to join a purpose-driven team on a mission to transform healthcare through AI. You’ll play a key role in building the backend foundation of our AI-powered product that helps reduce EHR inbox overload — one of the most pressing pain points in the healthcare industry.
You’ll work closely with data scientists, product managers, and fellow engineers to build scalable infrastructure for our large language model (LLM)-driven systems. This role offers strong ownership, autonomy, and a chance to make a real-world impact in a fast-moving startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable server-side applications
- Build and optimize infrastructure to support AI models and data-intensive processes
- Collaborate with data scientists and product teams to understand system needs and deliver scalable solutions
- Architect and manage backend databases for high-performance and reliability
- Take ownership of backend projects — from design to deployment
- Contribute to system architecture, problem-solving, and product delivery
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend development with Python
- Strong understanding of OOP, software architecture, and system design
- Hands-on experience building server-side applications and managing databases
- Proficiency in data structures, algorithms, and backend performance optimization
- Experience with version control systems and agile development processes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
