Our client from Sweden is seeking a skilled Functional Safety Engineer to work with innovative technologies in the automotive industry!
Responsibilities
- Participate in strategic planning, partner/supplier selection, and concept design stages of product development
- Collaborate with various teams, including electrical engineering, system design, and V&V (Verification and Validation), as well as customers and technical partners
- Execute safety analyses at the function, system, hardware, and software levels
- Plan and coordinate safety test activities
- Develop and document functional and technical safety concepts
- Lead functional safety engineering activities and develop technical work products
- Analyze and recommend safety criteria for system design
- Support the implementation of safety requirements throughout the vehicle system design
- Develop verification and validation strategies, such as hazard and risk assessment, DFMEAs, and technical safety concepts
- Integrate Functional Safety standards and practices into corporate processes
- Ensure timely preparation, revision, and release of technical specifications and work products
- Align safety-related topics with suppliers and customers
- Lead system engineering in a technical team
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery according to defined methods
- Integrate deliveries from other team members
- Participate in specification implementation and verification loops
- Implement system architecture strategies and roadmaps
- Lead concept investigations and explore alternatives
- Support the product manager in clarifying needs and breaking them down into features
- Secure the implementation of the system and non-functional requirements
Requirements
Hard skills
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering, or similar field
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of system safety activities according to ISO 26262
- Experience in writing safety plans and requirement specifications
- Familiarity with OEM functional safety processes, including FMEA, FTA, DRBFM, and safety validation
- Practical experience with methods like HARA, FMEA, and root cause analysis
Soft skills

- Analytical and structured
Will be plus
- Experience in C development, MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
- Experience in a functional safety lifecycle (ISO-26262)
