MySQL MariaDB Specialist

As a MySQL/MariaDB Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical expertise and support to clients across various operational and tactical levels. You will be involved in CI/CD development processes, contribute to the establishment and maintenance of complex database environments, and participate in projects that demand high availability.

Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and optimizing platform performance and query tuning. Additionally, you will act as a trusted advisor, conducting independent Health Checks and Quick Scans, providing insightful reports, and advising clients on optimal solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize MySQL/MariaDB environments, ensuring high availability in complex settings
  • Act as a key player in CI/CD development processes and contribute to the enhancement of database landscapes
  • Conduct independent Health Checks and Quick Scans, generating comprehensive reports with conclusions and recommendations
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to clients based on company expertise in MySQL/MariaDB
  • Participate actively in the development of new tools and products specific to the MySQL and MariaDB platform
  • Expand, document, and share knowledge and expertise within OptimaData, including participation in skills uplift programs
  • Engage in external activities such as blogging, attending events, meetups, and training sessions to stay abreast of industry trends
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to prioritize and implement improvements

Requirements

Hard skills:

  • HBO (Higher Professional Education) level of thinking and working
  • 1–5 years of experience in IT, preferably with MySQL/MariaDB
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP is a plus
  • Strong affinity or even experience with MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux, Ansible, and Terraform are a plus

Soft skills:

  • Communicatively skilled: you seek the question behind the question
  • Eager to learn: you find it important to continually broaden, deepen, and share your (technical) knowledge
  • Flexible and easy-going, but respectful towards clients
  • Analytical: you quickly grasp complex situations by understanding observed facts, possible causes, and consequences
  • Willing to travel: a conference in London or a HealthCheck in Groningen is no issue
  • A team player, but working independently is also not a problem for you
